Limewash
Traditional Lime supply natural limewash for decorating and protecting lime render and plaster. Natural and synthetic pigments can be added to colour your limewash. A colour chart is available opposite.
Why choose limewash?
Limewash is a durable replacement for traditional stains and paints and will fade over time, rather than chipping like some alternatives. Limewash does not fully seal a surface like more modern alternatives which can seal in moisture over time. Its porous nature means moisture is allowed to escape rather than becoming trapped.
Limewash is a very traditional finish used for decorating and protecting porous surfaces made of Lime, stone and bricks. Limewash is a breathable finish, like Distemper, making it appropriate for ancient and damp walls. Limewash penetrates the surface unlike paint, and by applying successive coats, the colour is built up.
